Alistair J. Lees, Department of Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, SUNY at Binghamton, Binghamton, NY 13902-6000
This talk will cover recent developments in the author's laboratory inspired by Prof. Arthur W. Adamson's early studies. Research on a variety of organometallic photochemical problems that may lead to practical applications and involve a close examination of Adamson's celebrated thermally equilibrated excited states ("thexi") states will be presented. Several new organometallic photochemical directions will be discussed; these will include photoinitiator studies, luminescent probe complexes, emitting supramolecular hosts, anion sensors and molecular switches.
