Force microscopy experiments reveal structural and mechanical detail of reversibly assembled polymer bridges between surfaces. The reversible polymer system employed is modular, allowing systematic study of molecular characteristics including thermodynamics, dynamics, and conformational flexibility as well as system characteristics such as the density of anchors on surfaces, distance between surfaces, and timescale for equilibration.
