From shampoo to lipstick to laundry detergent, silicones have been used for years in hair care products, cosmetics and in fabric care because of the unique benefits that they offer. They have a unique softness, excellent spreadability as well as durability. These and many other features have made them common in products people use everyday. In this presentation, the uses of different silicone materials in these application areas will be described. Silicone chemistry is very diverse, and the relationships between chemical structure and performance benefits will be discussed.
