For the methanol decomposition to produce H2£¬a series of Cu based catalysts were prepared by impregnation and plasma technique£¬characterized by TPD and TPR. The results showed that the methanol conversion of catalyst supported on SiO2 reached to 87.1% with the selectivity of CO of 97.8%, which is much higher than that of others. The presence of Ni in catalysts can improve the activity and the optimum content is about 6%. We compared the catalyst by plasma with that by normal method, and found that the methanol conversion over catalysts by normal method was only 47.8% with almost no CO obtained, while after treated by plasma, the conversion increased to 75.1% and the selectivity of CO is more than 67.9%.
