A technique for magnetic seeding, in which ferrous hydroxide is directly precipitated onto inorganic particles surface and then crystallized to magnetic iron oxide, was applied to various inorganic particles. The amount of deposited ferrous hydroxide onto inorganic particles surface and the reactivity between inorganic particles and ferrous hydroxide were investigated. A relation between the reactivity and saturation magnetization of crystallized ferrous hydroxide was also examined. It was found that Al2O3 and TiO2 particle surface have low reactivity, which leads to large saturation magnetization of crystallized ferrous hydroxide.
