| The objective of this work was to study NOx removal under room temperature in the presence of ammonia using a combined system of a dc corona discharge with catalyst typical of the SCR processing. A positive DC corona discharge was generated between a stainless steel hollow needle and a flat mesh made of brass. The needle was placed perpendicularly to the mesh maintaining the interelectrode distance of 40 mm. The outer and inner diameter of the hollow needle was 2 mm and 1.6 mm, respectively. Gas mixture of N2(80%):O2(5%):CO2(15%):NO(200ppm) with addition of ammonia flowed through the tube with a flow rate of 1 l/min. The globules of catalyst were placed on the mesh. Results of the investigation showed that without the catalyst NOx decomposition efficiency in the “pure” corona discharge processing was not higher than 70%. In the presence of the catalyst the corona discharge removes up to 96% of NOx. |
